The analysis seems exceedingly convoluted indeed.

A few observations:

Pope Leo is quoted again as affirming that given the destructive power of modern weapons, Just War Theory is 'outdated'. Does he mean the concept no longer applies or that it needs to be refined?

A somewhat unfortunate ambiguity.

As I write on 21st July, the United Kingdom has its first ever cradle Catholic Prime Minister. Yet almost no interest has been shown in this by the main stream media.

I can think of 2 related reasons:

i) The last time Mr Burnham referred in public to his birth religion was in 2009, when he ranked it 3rd as a fundamental influence. Behind both his political party and even his local football team.

Since then; silence.

ii) The free fall of Catholicism in the west, which Francis appeared to relish in and which Leo has shown scant signs of addressing means that the label 'catholic' is generally seen as innocuous if not meaningless.

Hardly something to be proud of some 6 decades after the end of Vatican II, is it?

I know for certain that not even a wilderness of clever editorials (whether directly inspired by the pope or his acolytes or not) from the likes of Andrea Tornielli will begin to address the issues which I mention.

Leo spoke as a pastor for the climate change globalists when Arnold Swartzenegger was in the Vatican calling Leo an "action hero" as Leo blessed a block of ice while calling for an "ecological conversion."
