Charles G. I realize your concerns. However, their are other levels here that I believe you are missing. First, "partakes in the Eucharist unworthily" is condemnation but who is to judge that a divorced and remarried Catholic isn't partaking in the Eucharist with much love for Jesus. You have jumped to the conclusion that their state in live is an unworthy state to receive communion, but you do not know their life story not their heart. This is a pastoral issue more than doctrinal. Didn't Jesus break bread with unrepentant tax collectors and prostitutes. WE must meet people where they are in order for them to reconnect with the Lord od mercy. God bless.

I don't see that the Pope's interview diffuses the crisis, since even Cardinal Kasper says he is not changing doctrine. The problem is, his proposal clearly does change doctrine, since Our Lord said that divorce and remarriage was adultery, and that St. Paul says that he who partakes of the Eucharist unworthily does so to his condemnation, I simply don’t understand how it is possible logically to say that communion for divorced and remarried is solely disciplinary. It seems rather obvious to me that it is mixed disciplinary and doctrinal issue. And Heaven help us with a Cardinal Forte, with whom Spadaro exchanged thumbs up when they had gotten away with including the clause suggestive of normalization of homosexual activity in the manipulated mid-synod report, even though that subject hadn't been discussed. Heaven help us with 15 more cardinals of the stamp of Marx, Maradiaga, Kasper and Baldisseri!
