Each week your columns have provided something of a challenge, but the suspicion that you swim in the waters of the counter-intuitive and of self-contradiction –attempting to buttress a façade of insight – much like the occupant of the Chair of St. Peter – is now no longer curious, but increasingly annoying.
Conceptual acrobatics augmented by verbal pirouettes are no substitute for insight and honest journalism. You either innocently imbibe the same toxins as Pope Bergoglio or are a consciously sympathetic conniver. Continual attempts to camouflage the disastrous deconstruction of Roman Catholicism while ignoring its decay under the gaze of the Argentine Jesuit are either the result of caving to deception or bad will.
Or is this the result of attempting to serve two masters, as so many in the hierarchy, the parish clergy and the laity are pursuing? Mindless “religious” leaders operating from affect, abandoning the Faith and reason, articulating moronic nonsense by employing adolescent poetics. We can’t let our respect for the office blind us to a course that is clearly in the realm of the absurd. Those persisting in this trajectory are candidates for a sanatorium.
We are in deep, dark and toxic waters, with no one at helm, left in the hands of …
We are in collapse.
