Thanks for writing and for sharing. I read the Archbishop Fernandez' interview on Sunday, in the original Italian. But the interview mirrors Archbishop Fernandez' views. How much these views are shared by Pope Francis, I cannot assess, but I'd say the Pope has taken a different reflection. And, for what I see, Archbishop Fernandez is not any more so much in the Pope's graces. I may be wrong, obviously.

As I’ve said in previous comments I very much appreciate your perspective. Your firm clear reasoning provides a sense of balance in an era characterized by hysteria. But inevitably, shortly after profiting from your contribution, there is a reality check. An interview with Archbishop Victor Manuel Fernandez, a theologian you are well aware of, provided that check this morning. His point of view appears to contradict the picture you present here. Rather disconcerting, actually. Please see: http://www.globalpulsemagazine.com/news/no-turning-back/1220
Or: http://mirrorofjustice.blogs.com/mirrorofjustice/2015/05/he-knows-very-well-what-he-is-doing.html
I provide this more for your perusal than for publication. Thank you for your excellent work.

Thanks for writing. Just a quick response to your questions: the 'team Bergoglio' was in action, and it was composed by progressive cardinals, who had very good contacts with the old men of the Curia. The hidden Vatican is not the faction that backed Pope Francis election. When I refer to hidden Vatican, I refer to that Vatican composed by officials, employee and mostly unknown people that carries forward reforms and work and help the Vatican what it is without claiming any revolution. They help the Holy See to renovate in continuity with the tradition, they help any Pope, so that the Church is always the Church, despite the personality and the moves of any Pope. Team Bergoglio wanted a revolution, hidden Vatican want to work for a renewal within a continuity. Progressive wing pushes for a revolution, while the Hidden Vatican cannot me labeled as progressive or conservative, they just want to assist the Church in its path to history. Hope it helps.

Many thanks for your wonderful reporting and analysis. Your perspective is much anticipated and much appreciated on a weekly basis, especially here in America, where we understand so little of what goes on in Rome and where reporting on that topic is so consistently ill-informed. There are several deeply conflicting narratives about the last conclave. One speaks of a revolutionary Team Bergolio. But another, which I personally trust more because it correctly predicted the result a week before the conclave began, sees Bergolio as the candidate of the establishment curial and diplomatic wing (as he was in the 2005 conclave). Does the author of this blog believe this to be the case? And, isn't it also the case that this faction is the hidden Vatican of which the author speaks? And, additionally, would it be true to say that this hidden Vatican is precisely not the Ratzingerian camp but in fact those who were most firmly opposed to his election in 2005 and those who sought so ardently his ouster throughout the latter portion of his papacy?

The Holy Father should be entirely free to speak, but he has a responsibility -- all his own -- to be well understood. If he neglects that responsibility he not only injures his office, but souls. Speak rightly, speak loudly, and speak clearly. His golden moment comes before the United Nations, then the Congress of the United States, and then the aftermath of the Synod. If he misses the mark, it is not only his person and office that will be injured, but most importantly, SOULS.
